Joanne Byer has served on the Board since 1985 and is a
lifetime resident of Oakley. She has served as Board President and Clerk
throughout the years. Mrs. Byer was
honored as a LUHSD Graduate of Distinction and Volunteer of the Year for East
Contra Costa County. She has shown
dedication through many years of service, including membership on the Contra
Costa County Transportation Consortium, the Oakley Inter-Agency Committee, Hall
of Fame, Graduates of Distinction and the LUHSD Educational Foundation. She is
also an active member of the Soroptimist International Organization of the
Pauline Allred was elected to the LUHSD Board of Trustees in
2014. Mrs. Allred is a Brentwood resident and a Special Needs Educator in the
Brentwood Unified School District. She
has volunteered many hours in the community including, area schools as well as
other organizations. Mrs. Allred is also an active committee member with Boy
Scout Troop 93 as well as a parent volunteer for the Heritage High School
Parents Organization and Vice President for the Adams Middle School Band
Booster. Her unique insights will
benefit the community and working with staff, parents, and students.
Roy Ghiggeri was elected to the LUHSD Board of Trustees in
2010. Mr. Ghiggeri served 36 years as a
teacher, coach and administrator in the District. He is a proud graduate of Liberty High School
and a lifelong resident in the area. For over 40 years Mr. Ghiggeri has been a
partner in a local farming business. He has been actively involved in the
various communities of East Contra Costa County and served on a number of
committees and organizations. Mr Ghiggeri looks forward to serving the
community and working with staff, parents and students.
Yolanda Peña-Mendrek served on the LUHSD Board from
2006-2010 and was re-elected in November 2012.
She retired from the District after serving as Assistant Principal to
both Liberty and Heritage High Schools.
Mrs. Peña-Mendrek earned her Master's Degree in Education with an
emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction, and brings to the Board her teaching
experience in English as a Second Language (ESL), Business Education and
Ray Valverde served on the LUHSD Board from 1993-2006, and
was re-elected to the Board in 2008. He
has served as Board President and Clerk.
Mr. Valverde has exhibited his commitment to the community by serving on
the Graduates of Distinction Committee, Hall of Fame Committee and the LUHSD
Educational Foundation. Mr. Valverde has
been in education for over 35 years.
